I am a Lithuanian dance artist, working internationally as a performer, teacher and choreographer. I strongly believe in art as a tool for inspiration, self-improvement, as well as sense-making for oneself, and for connecting with – other humans, environment, past, future, what is tangible, what is not, and what lives in between.
Having started off in professional dance world as a ballet teacher (since 2013), I had expanded the range of my dance styles - from contemporary to folk, from pole to butoh, and decided to pursue the path as an independent creator.
In 2016, I co-founded a project-based dance company PDF Dance Theatre, officially registered in 2024, with a vision of creating together with like-minded professionals. The topics of my work revolve around exploration of the shadow - emotions, aspects of personality, experience, which tend to be repressed, and yet, at times get to resurface - as well as human relationships. I am interested in content over the shape, thus, the work is not limited to one art discipline nor singular dance style, aesthetics can differ as long as it serves the purpose.
In my work, performing and creating performances overlap with a constant seek for knowledge, which in turn I can then offer to others in a shape of workshops or intensives. Currently, I am conducting research on mental imagery use as a potential choreographic vocabulary, which I hope to apply as a regular work model, strengthening the equally collaborative choreographer-dancer relationship and holistic work methods.
